Is sleeping on an inclined bed healthy? #90

Context: tonight I am camping⛺️ and the ground is gently sloping down/uphil. I have chosen to sleep with my head at the higher elevation because it feels more comfortable than having my feet higher than my head.

So I was curious ... Is this “bad” for me?

My hypothesis is that it might not be as “restful” as my heart has to “work harder to maintain circulation. But given that each time I’ve been in hospital I’ve slept in a slightly inclined bed, I suspect that it’s probably not bad to sleep “inclined” (otherwise doctors would not allow it for post-surgery recovery...).

Naturally when I’ve got a question and need/want answers I resort to Google.

Found this instructables article: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-to-Improve-your-helath-by-sleeping-on-an-Incli/

Going to read all the links it refers to. But on the surface it appears as tho sleeping with your head elevated (not just with a pillow) may be health-promoting... 🤔

Super interesting! The counterpoint to this is that if you have bad circulation in your legs, you are often told to sleep with your legs raised (I can attest that this helps), which would then make it akin to sleeping with just the head of the bed up (not health-promoting, according to the text above).

It would therefore seem this improves sleep and promotes spine health but would be counter-productive for those with circulation issues in their lower limbs 👍
