Marijuana use in adolescents is associated with Reduced Neurocognitive Functioning #93

Pot reduces your memory and slows your brain ... No 💩 Sherlock. 🙄

But this is about adolescents who were regular users at a time when their brains are still developing - so, yes, no :hankey:

But I figure negative outcomes are generally guaranteed when (young) people start abusing substances (hey, even sugar and caffeine)

The context to this* is that I'm seriously concerned that public attitudes to cannabis (in this country at least) are closer to reefer madness :scream: and less enlightened than they should be - to the extent that even medicinal use is controversial. (You may remember the recent story about poor Billy Caldwell, whose mother had to go to Canada to get cannabis oil to help with Billy's extreme epilepsy, only for it to be confiscated at the airport.)

*That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

@rub1e I'm in favour of legalisation, regulation and taxation of Cannabis both to reduce crime/stigma and improve the consistency of the product. We all know that treating Cannabis consumption as a Crime is daft and doesn't work. Blazers gonna be blazin' no matter what the law is or who's selling the product ... 🙄

Demonising people who smoke a naturally-growing herb is purely political. Cannabis will be fully legalised in most countries in our lifetime.

The point of sharing this article is just to point out that there is good empirical evidence that smoking pot is not conducive to memory or cognition ... 🙃 and my reasoning for avoiding [as a teenager and now] it is "corroborated". ✅

Cannabis (CBD) oil makes perfect sense as a treatment for quite a few ailments; I'm totally in favour even though I don't need it, it's a legitimate medical treatment.
