This led me down a Ghost Ship Fire rabbit hole, where the leaseholders (not the owners) of the building were arrested and are serving up to 9 and 6 years in jail respectively. Wow. Sad times.
@iteles yep ... being personally liable for fire safety is both a good thing to keep people accountable/responsible and a terrifying thing for people starting/running a communal space. 😞
As much as I know people will accuse me of being a "party pooper" for being unwaveringly against Alcohol, Drugs and (overnight) Parties, I know that it's the right decision for the long-term because we want to build a sustainable and safe creative community, not a "frat house" where people come for one week to take psychedelics 🦄, have "relations" (the fallout of which will "sink the ship"!) and burn the place down! 🔥
We will have plenty of fun including social gatherings, playing music (at reasonable volume ...),
film nights and regular vegan BBQs and if people want to go out and party 💃🕺🎉
they are welcome to provided they are respectful of the people who are sleeping (_because they have goals/routines that require discipline_) and don't set off the noise alarms 🔇 when they return
