This for me is the selling point that makes this worthwhile for outdoor use. I think the glass will protect the plying surface both from dust and dirty hands. 💭

@iteles you commented that we don't need a foosball table, and to a certain extent I agree. But then we don't need anything really ... we can be minimalist hobos/monks own nothing and be happy. 😊

A foosball table, like a ping pong table, surf board or kayak are all nice-to-have leisure items that nobody needs.

A game that encourages getting up off the sofa, outdoors in the fresh air and playing with friends is a fantastic way to get children away from screens IMO.

It feels like it will be crowded in the new area with this. And it's a grand we could spend on other things that would be a bigger bang for the buck. If it was €300, I wouldn't raise an objection, but it's not. I don't think it's worth the money given the vast array of other outdoor activities we have when what we need is run-around space and it's a noisy activity too.

But it's your vision and I know there are zero arguments to deter you in getting this done. I'm sure it'll look amazing at the end 👌

Addressing each of your objections:

Yes, "a grand" is a lot to spend, as I've said above. ⬆️ But if it gets kids outside in the morning sunshine and thus prevents myopia ... 👀 Think of how much money your parents and you have spent on glasses & contact lenses over the years... 👓 💸 🔥 The lifecycle costs for the average myopic person is $20k. Yes, it adds up! 💰 And that's not factoring the wasted time of having to visit the Optometrist each year. ⌛ it's been proven that being indoors (away from sunlight) is the main cause: youtu.be/6OZwGzWQAfQ So, I think that spending even TEN Grand on something that kids love playing outdoors is worth it to avoid having eye trouble later in life.
