Paper Mail (PMail) Process > Automation #480

Do we have a defined process for handling Paper-based Mail and how automated is it?

@iteles please excuse me if this issue/idea is already captured elsewhere. I did try searching GitHub for "mail": https://github.com/search?q=org%3Adwyl+mail and looked at: https://github.com/dwyl/process-handbook

An excellent question asked at an excellent time - given that you're heading off to the Europes 🇵🇹

I think for now we'll (I'll) scan incoming pmail (👏 👏 ) and save the PDFs in a google drive folder, bringing it to the attention to the relevant person.

When I have time I'll have a browse around - there may even be an existing solution for something like this!

I'll add it to the handbook when I've figured out how to use the office scanner. Which will make me soggy with nostalgia for the old days when scanners were magic ✨

@rub1e tinyscanner? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appxy.tinyscanner&hl=en_GB

@SimonLab totes amaze!! I knew the internet would provide a ready-made solution!

rub1e commented 6 years ago

I was arrogant to think this would be without complications.

Re tinyscanner: I'm not convinced it's better than just taking photos

Re process - I've just taken a photo of a bill, then uploaded it to my drive, renamed it, then tried to send it to the dwyl drive, but in the end it was faster to add it to a folder in my own drive and share it with @iteles

Needless to say, this is not a satisfactory solution; I'll do this for now but will aim to come up with a more efficient process asap

(Do shout if you have any bright ideas!)

Just leaving this here until I find a place for it: because of how the Royal Mail 👑 has this address on their database (either 149 or 139-149 or 141-149), the post can sometimes end up in various places - so at least once a week someone (me) needs to check in the pigeon holes round the back entrance for incoming mail.
