Yeah fair point.
I think the best thing to do is to tweak the language here so that it's clear this is what you can do if someone's holiday request needs to be amended retrospectively...
... but change the language in the holiday request process to put the onus on the dwyler to be aware if they'll be going over their allocation (which is displayed ~when they request leave and~ on their payslips)
EDIT: currently this isn't possible as remaining leave isn't displayed when you request leave 🙄 Will see if I can change that in the settings, but if not it'll have to be the responsibility of the approver to put the leave in the right category.
I'm very confused now - when @Cleop showed me on her account, there was no option to set unpaid leave
yourself - I had to change it afterwards
But @SimonLab 's comment shows he can access this category.
And I've just checked and there's no difference in their permissions level.
@Cleop - can you try again to book a holiday and see if you've got the dropdown options like Simon does please?
@rub1e - I've checked and I now have the 'unpaid' option 👍
This has been updated to take account of https://github.com/dwyl/process-handbook/pull/137#discussion_r241197994
This PR explains the process from the approver's side, and https://github.com/dwyl/process-handbook/pull/139 explains it from the requester's side, including the putting the onus for booking the correct leave type (holiday vs unpaid leave)
Brief update on how to correctly capture unpaid leave in Xero
