Monophasic sleep is what most of us do (1 period of sleep a day).

Tim Ferris has experimented with this and found he does best with biphasic sleep (7.5 hours overnight and then 90minutes around 15h00 - 16h00. (mentioned in #16 )

Personally I have felt most productive when able to sleep 7 to 8 hours overnight, got up early (05h00 to 06h00) and then had a 60 minute nap at the end of the morning, around 11h00 or 12h00. Currently experimenting with this to refine productivity sleep hours.
