Video Intro for Tutorials #34

Open nelsonic opened 7 years ago

Our videos (mostly tutorials for now) require brief view of the @dwyl logo at the start & end to give viewers a consistent experience. These intro are often referred to as a "reveal" or "sting" and sometimes as a "bumper". a few examples: https://youtu.be/CB8xi9X9okM Alternatively we could just have a Video Title as the intro. e.g: https://youtu.be/mbPn8b_Li_w

I like MKBHD's 3 second intro https://youtu.be/2BQ1rCqG19Y because it's short & simple.

We could just buy a template from: https://videohive.net/search?term=logo+reveal as suggested by: image https://youtu.be/0C47nyXsdDc

I would prefer to create something that didn't look "generic" but I'm conscious of the fact that we don't want to spend "too much" time/money on this.

I really like the intro on this channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVYamHliCI9rw1tHR1xbkfw it's short and clean.

I wanted to try my hands on after effects and the dwyl logo to make some sort of animation but it might be worth buying an animated intro from the internet for a cheap price and see if it's any good?

@sohilpandya Dave2D's intro is just under 3 sec (agree it's slick!) great use of sound too! šŸ‘

Based on what was done here by @sohilpandya and our discussions: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX47atVcVZE&t=2s I've been working with something along the lines of a simple transition showing: image for a starting banner and then my proposal for a closing page would include:

@iteles @nelsonic @markwilliamfirth @sohilpandya - what are your thoughts? Don't want to overkill with too much info but trying to think what's important/relevant. Note: there will be text below the video ie. in the youtube description with space for links to the relevant dwyl learn-... repos ie. learn-tachyons.

Personally I favour simplicity as I think just like good UI, it's best to start simple than with too much.

nelsonic commented 7 years ago

@Cleop intro slide is good MVP. šŸ‘ "outro" could include "please like if you found this video interesting/useful and subscribe for more web development tutorials" (or better copy/words as you see fit)

Cleop commented 7 years ago

@nelsonic - thanks for your thoughts on the intro slide (I agree, we can iterate on it in time).

For the outro we already have a piece to camera as the last thing saying subscribe etc. I'll mock up an ending slide and share it here.

Do you think this is too much? Are we better off going minimalistic with just the logo and company name (same as intro slide, minus video title)? image

This is the backdrop for intro and outro pieces to camera: image

@Cleop these videos are superb! šŸŽ‰ Please upload the two videos to YouTube when you can. šŸš€ (the intro slides are simple & effective)
