GoPro Gimbal walking comparison: https://youtu.be/jWlsqXyKQ6M
The Feiyutech G6 looks like a good option even with the Hero 7 Black's "Hypersmooth" stabilisation.
Did DJI just kill GoPro ...? https://www.dji.com/osmo-pocket 😮
at $349 it's not "cheap":
But it's less expensive than a GoPro Hero 7 ($399) and appears to have better stabilisation ... 🤔
Seriously, watch Faruk's intro video: https://youtu.be/vq7qWDHJPeI
Got the Osmo Mobile 2 Gimbal on eBay for cheaper than on any "black friday" deal:
My reasoning for preferring to buy things "second hand" goes beyond price.
Buying something that someone else
no longer wants/needs
is much better for the environment than fuelling demand for new items.
Yes, I bought the Ronin S from a retailer because there weren't any on eBay at the time of purchase. I could have waited for one to appear on eBay ... but I wanted to get it ordered so I can use it! Osmo Mobile 2 will get used for iPhone videos, when quality is less important, e.g on "Holiday" when I don't want to carry a massive Gimbal in my limited hand luggage. But for the video I want to shoot yesterday, I want full-frame quality.
Excited to be receiving these soon! 😮
A common "complaint" of the Ronin S is that your arms get tired ... https://youtu.be/5Jj54cwzH_I
Peter Homer suggests using the "Zhiyun Transmount Mini Dual Grip" which is made for the Zhiyun Crane V2 but "works well" with the Ronin S: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07B4YTRWT/
Same item, quite a lot cheaper on eBay: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zhiyun-Crane-2-Transmount-Mini-Double-Dual-Grip-L-Bracket-Holder-for-LED-Monitor/202512123127 I like the fact that it has a strap on the hand grip. Think I'm going to order one. 🤔
Ordered:
Going to have to wait a month for it from HK so figure I should just get it and if I don't like I will sell it on ... The "normal" eBay price for these is closer to £40 ... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Zhiyun-TransMount-Mini-Dual-Grip-Adjustable-Cold-Shoe-1-4-Thread-For-Crane-2/312110462173
@edwardcodes have you figured out how to use the WG2X Gimbal with the GoPro? Got any sample footage you can upload?
This video shot in Japan reminds me how much I want to visit the country! https://youtu.be/hyKQfoWRYFw
Sadly, the Ronin S is not compatible with the Sony A7 #49 out of the box. A specific (optional) cable is required to connect and control the camera. https://petapixel.com/2018/10/04/dji-ronin-s-users-demand-free-cable-for-sony-camera-compatibility/ https://m.dji.com/product/ronin-s-camera-control-cable-multi?Phclickrefb=1011l5ZWVBef&vid=46581
Been thinking about getting a Gimbal for a while ... 💭 I feel that the latest batch from DJI has ironed out many of the "kinks" and the price is much better too!
If you are new to Gimbals and video stabilisation this is a good intro: https://youtu.be/wv9mTkE_xTA
The reason I want get a Gimbal for the type of filming I do is to make footage more stable (less shaky) and "cinematic": https://youtu.be/e_r8StcQS1g

Faruk demonstrates the "follow me" functionality: https://youtu.be/J3qptbZ4vlE
I'm currently bidding on a couple of eBay auctions for the Osmo Mobile 2 ... If I don't win any of them, I will consider buying it directly from a retailer for "full price".
DJI Ronin-S
I feel that the DJI Ronin-S is "the one"! 😍

Bought it from eGlobalCentral: 😮
(my logic is this: if I don't like it or don't
use
it, I will sell it on eBay at a profit!)Extended review: https://youtu.be/JO03oGhDHzM

I don't think this replaces a "slider" #47 ... but I feel it's more versatile and much better value for money.
