Until recently, I had a BOSCH GLM50 Laser measuring device. https://www.bosch-professional.com/pt/pt/products/glm-50-c-0601072C00

Purchased in 2018 for ~€150 and used extensively during the build for measuring custom parts. It went missing mysteriously while we are away on family holiday ... when we returned it had vanished! Mystery aside - not wasting any time accusing anyone of taking it ... - I need a new one!! I use it every day when doing metal/woodwork and have really felt it's presence missing. I've looked everywhere in the workshop and upstairs and zero. Annoyingly, my AirPodsPro also went missing ... so there's something not right ... πŸ˜•

But back to the laser ⚑ pew-pew!

The US Site is best for the technical data in English: https://www.bosch-professional.com/lb/en/products/glm-50-c-0601072C00

By far the most important thing in a Laser Measuring device is accuracy! I learned that the hard way! While I was searching for my BOSCH GLM50, I took a chance on a Cheaper Chinese Clone: https://www.amazon.es/gp/product/B08G892B9W

And it's garbage! The accuracy is abysmal! Never less than 3mm off (too much/little) measuring. That makes it useless for building things that require precision. I cut some metal tubes based on the measurement taken and they were all too short and thus wasted materials!! Suuuuuper frustrating! So I'm thinking of spending the money again to buy another BOSCH. I feel like this is the "shovel when digging for gold"; you don't ask how much it costs if the "prize" is 10-100x!

Ok, so there are several options for professional laser measuring at various price points. https://www.amazon.es/s?k=bosch+glm50

I'm thinking of getting a Green laser this this time as they are much brighter and basically the same price ... https://www.toolstop.co.uk/blog/knowledge-base/red-and-green-lasers-whats-the-difference-and-which-is-best

Green lasers were 2-10x more expensive a few years ago. Now they are basically the same price and much brighter. Perfect for use outdoors.

Soo ... while the GLM 50 ("classic") that I had supported Bluetooth I hardly ever used it ... So I'm considering giving it a miss this time and going for the cheaper model without Bluetooth: https://www.amazon.es/dp/B0BGM84H5K

Want to make the call on this today so I don't have to wait for it much longer. As noted above, I've really missed having a good laser measure these past few weeks. 😒

It really pains me to spend this money again when my "old" one was still working perfectly, it just went missing ... 😒 πŸ’Έ But I'm just going to get it done and move on with my life! :shipit:

Just going to confirm it's still all working then will close this and save .€121!! πŸ˜₯

Not gonna lie, after mourning the loss of my "old" laser I was psyched to try the new greeeeen one! πŸ’š But I'd much rather save the cash and use natural resources; stoked @iteles found it before I placed the order! πŸŽ‰ Closing. βœ
