Actually, I want to make a change to my suggestion here. I'm about to make a new thread for an enhancement to the AP which will help resellers greatly. But the new thread will be about adjusting sell orders. I'll put the buy order suggestion here.
Earlier I said that the AP should not adjust the buy price from the last AP pricing. In the case that happens a lot of the time, where the buy prices have moved up to very close to the sell prices, e.g., 4.55-4.66, and the BP/Steam suggested price is the same, then it would be good for the AP to lower the buy price a larger amount, let's say 20%.
So on an item where there are only sell orders plus just one bot buy order, and the most recent margin is super low (per above), the AP would move the buy price down to 20% below the popular sell price.
Detailed Example:
Item sell orders:
1 @ 4.77 5 @ 5.00 (common low sell price) 1 @ 5.55 1 @ 7 etc, etc.
Buy orders:
1 @ 4.88 (this is the most recent price set by the AP when there were other competing buy orders listed to go by)
At this point, the competing listings are gone, and there's only one buy order with a 1 scrap margin vs the common low sell price. Now the AP will take that sell price, subtract 20%, and use that for the new buy price. So, 5 ref - 20% = 4 ref = the new buy price. A much better situation for resellers, and any new buy orders coming in will use this new price as a guideline.
I have found a possibly related bug just now. I listed the item " Pocket Raiders " with a buy/sell price, and when the listing popped up in the banking section to the right of the form, the buy price had been set to N/A. In this case, there are many buy side orders on BP, so it's not the exact same issue.
I edited the listing and added the buy price again, and it saved it that time.
Expected behavior
AP should not adjust buy price from the initial owner setting, or the last AP setting, if there are no other buy orders on the BP to compare to. (edit: see my 2nd post below; I've kind of changed my mind on part of this)
Current behavior
When the AP finds no other buy orders on the BP, it is changing the owner's buy price to " N/A ", and then delisting the ad.
Possible solution

Detailed description
I cannot say if this is happening with every item without other buy orders. I did not keep track of this since the beginning because I thought I was either making a mistake, or, in some cases when I'm just selling in the banking section, I will set the buy price to N/A (reference my other issue with the opposite problem, where sell only orders in banking are sometimes auto set to buy and sell by the AP)
But after finding a new listing today that I'm certain about, I now know that the other instances I've had were not my mistakes.
Secondly, this issue will obviously be on the rare side overall when compared to the size of the TF2 item catalog, as almost all items will have buy orders, so I understand if this will be low priority, but, in the last few weeks I have come across items like this a few handfuls of times. I see them pretty much every day, it's just a very low percentage of items.
