This reflects my experience with the worst sins I've seen around me, God's direction in my life, and how I read the Bible: Jesus's strongest condemnations were to the religious leaders, and legalism was his primary complaint – he was pretty gentle with everybody else except that one time when Peter told him not to do the thing.
Open Question : do the creeds also adequately address those that err on the side of license? Two top-of-mind examples of license: amoral expediency, and internet culture.
