The mblaze toolkit efficiently implemented many of the Zsh internal functions of jaro-mail, working with UNIX pipes and sharing the same design approach.
It is worth investigating for the next major release to adopt mblaze and remove some shell code. Next major version should anyway drop some unused functionalities and focus on mail retrieval, local and remote filter maintenance with sieve and serving local maildirs over imap.
