network selector does not see mac address IWI3945

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. None, problem constant. 

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

installed iwi3945 and it found the new ethernet adapter with the correct mac 
adress, but network 
selector shows the mac address as 00:00:00:00:00:00.  mode:3 led: on

What version of iwi are you using?   3945
On what verion of IO80211Family or kernel?  not sure but i am running 10.4.9 on 
a intel 
core2duo
