Possibly WebRTC may also come in handy as an alternative to uploading pictures that are taken with a "offline" camera or through other methods. Just an idea.

Because many images are taken with mobile devices (and it's awkward to do a top-down photo with most webcams), you should aim for mobile compatibility. A simple image upload is a good starting place.

I'm really excited how this same system could be used for measuring/generating other limbs and even be used "in the field" in the third world, perhaps with Twilio MMS integration.
