Please check that you haven't overwritten your e107_config.php file.
Be sure to use the 'e107 1.x to 2.0 alpha1 Upgrade' package, rather than the full install when upgrading.
You might have overwritten your e107_config.php file with an empty/blank one, as Cameron said. In that case, e107 thinks e107 is not installed yet, so it redirects you through to the installation procedure that one would get when installing e107 fresh from the start :)
I've edited the blog post to stress that you should use the upgrade package when upgrading. Sorry about that.
Silly me. I've updated using the update package and the only problem I have is with the forum update. e107 continues to tell me I need to do a database update to the forums after I've already done that, but it is being addressed in the support forums. If this continues to be a problem, I'll check git to make sure there isn't already a ticket for this issue, and if there isn't I'll create one. Thanks again!
Glad you managed to upgrade after all. Yes, the upgrade message showing is currently being discussed in the forums. Do let us know if you still have the issue at some point in the future :) Closing this for now.
I have followed the instructions to upgrade from e107 v1.x to v2.x that are mentioned in the blog post on e107.org: http://www.e107.org/blog/e107%20Inc.%20releases%20its%20initial%20%E2%80%98alpha%E2%80%99%20version%20of%20e107%20v2
I am not redirected to the admin area to perform updates. Instead, I get the installation screen asking me to select a language, just like a new installation would.
I'm trying to upgrade from 1.0.3 to 2.0_alpha.
I'm using: Windows 8 xampp php 5.4 mysql 5
