Closed dazzaji closed 10 years ago

dazzaji commented 10 years ago

The final page proofs were sent today by the editors of the book and we have till the end of next week to review. The details are included in the email, which I copy below. I have uploaded the publishers example of how to provide any edits and the proofs which include all content of all chapters (an impressive array, taken together).

  1. Page Proofs: https://github.com/eCitizen/chapter/blob/master/Proofs-9781107067356book_WM.pdf?raw=true
  2. Publisher proofreader’s marks: https://github.com/eCitizen/chapter/blob/master/Proofreader%20marks.pdf?raw=true

Also, I'll be scheduling a series of hangouts promoting the book through April and May. If you would like to take part in one, please give a shout asap and I'll schedule you in. Here is a blog post about (and including) the kick-off hangout: http://www.ecitizen.tv/2014/03/privacy-book-promo.html

Please let me know asap if you have any suggested changes to the page proofs so we can coordinate getting them back to the editors and publisher in the proper format in the time allotted.

Thanks,

Dear colleagues

Please find attached the page proofs for review. If you can send them to us by April 5, we will review and transmit to the publishers. We VERY much appreciate your speedy response ...if we get them in on time, we will be able to have the book published in time for all the roll out activities

Please donät hesitate to contact me if you have any questions

Dear Dr. Lane,

My name is Shashank Shankar and I am a project manager with Aptara, Delhi. Aptara is the editorial and composition services supplier for your Cambridge University Press title, Privacy, Big Data, and the Public Good. I will be your main production contact and will oversee production of the interior of your book from page proofs to final printer files. Questions about publication date, cover/jacket, or marketing are best addressed by your Cambridge Editor, Joshua Penney [JPenney@cambridge.org].

The page proofs of you book are ready and I have attached them to this e-mail. (9781107067356book_WM.pdf)

Your changes at proof stage are limited to typographical errors, serious errors of fact, and responses to queries. This is your one opportunity to make corrections to the page proofs; authors do not receive revised page proofs. Your corrections will be faithfully rendered on the revised page proofs and confirmed by Aptara proofreading and quality control groups as well as by your project manager.

I have also attached to this email the standard proofreader’s marks which you may refer while marking corrections. Please mark all corrections in the text and on the margin (in legible printing) at least 1/4 inch from the edge of the paper in dark ink. Please ensure that no corrections are mentioned in a cover letter or separate note without also being marked on the page proofs themselves. The PDF is a comment enabled file to enable you to annotate your corrections in the PDF file, if that’s feasible with you.

Your corrections to proof along with the index are due to me by April 8, 2014 (receipt in Aptara offices).

As always, do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. Thank you very much.

Best, Shashank

  1. Page 197, url is broken between lines.
  2. References 19 & 20 are missing!

Hi Arek,

I see the URL http://www.d4d.orange.com is broken on page 197, as you discovered, and have notified the publisher.

The two references (19 and 20) are present via the term "Ibid" which refers to the reader to the prior reference, resulting with reference 18 which read as follows:

  1. World Economic Forum, “Personal Data: The Emergence of a New Asset Class,” January 2011, http://www.weforum.org/reports/personal-data-emergence new-asset-class.
  2. Ibid.
  3. Ibid.

I've emailed a doc-compare version to highlight the changes that the editors and publisher made to the doc. The edits all appear either neutral or improvements.

Thanks again. This is now truly done!

Warmly,
