Deliver three camps in Plymouth in Feb #88

We are working with Next Steps South West to deliver three camps in Plymouth. Our contact is an Outreach Officer in Plymouth University. For reference:

Next Steps South West (NSSW) is a collaboration of 14 partner universities and colleges throughout Cornwall, Devon and Somerset. As the region's National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP), they help young people navigate their own personal journey to higher education.

Note - NSSW appear to be the local version of Higher Horizons - who have been responsibly for about 60 camps, so we are happily taking a small loss (in terms of organizational overhead)

There will be one camp starting on the 3rd February and two starting on the 10th February.

These are the schools:

School address date leader
Coombe Dean School Charnhill Way, Plymouth, Devon, PL9 8ES w/c 03.02.2019 Holly
Notre Dame School Looseleigh Ln, Plymouth, Devon, PL6 5HN w/c 10.02.2019 Chris
Plympton Academy Moorland Rd, Plymouth PL7 2RS w/c 10.02.2019 Holly

Leaders have been sent emergency contact numbers for school contacts.

The Plymouth contact is taking responsibility for communication with schools - they have rewritten the standard terms of reference to this version and are providing some student ambassadors

Three WWW people are attending: Joe, Holly and Chris. Holly is delivering two camps, Chris is delivering one and Joe is reviewing Holly's work and taking various meetings where possible.

It is very much our ambition that this is the first of many camps, and with that in mind we'd like to lay the groundwork for local volunteers and workers - the university are providing some and I've contacted some people at Plymouth University in the hope of finding an invested PhD student

Coombe Dean School is part of a 'Booklink' with a camp happening at the same time in Keele - it shares some cover art and a brief - we'll work out closer links when we are on the ground.

The leaders are in (different, because of the distance between schools) hotels. They should know that expenses form is here the expenses policy is here and that they are expected to keep timesheets.

There was an issue with logging into KDP to publish the book so I did it from here. I took the opertunity to record the process so that we have an updated video for leaders. Will add the URL here shortly.

Hello everybody.

Bad news I'm afraid. Storm Ciara has canceled enough trains that the member of staff who was leading the White Water Writers camp at Plympton Academy cannot reach Plymouthtoday. Thus we have to cancel this week's camp and rearrange for the future.

We didn't take this decision lightly, but this morning it was particularly obvious that the journey wasn't possible (he's coming from Preston)

We're waiting for some response about the missing school.
