[General] [Dating] #192

Open michaelzellmann opened 6 years ago

michaelzellmann commented 6 years ago

(via Richard) check-boxes for 'document' or 'extrapolated' that had been ticked in early entries are now blank when the entries are retrieved

tuurma commented 6 years ago

@michaelzellmann could you please provide me an example (id) of a person where problem occurs? I tried to find such a problematic record but no luck so far.

michaelzellmann commented 6 years ago

Richard points to the following record-number: Pb1e93063-9727-4e13-a417-226591e83d89

This record has no data recorded for this field and has only been edited via editing interface when first created on 2017-07-26 even though last update shows 2018-03-14 but this is the date when we reinstalled the data on Oxford server, thus all timestamps were updated.

Is it possible that this record (and numerous others with Dating field empty) have never had this information entered? I can't recall now if we had these checkboxes right from the start or not.

I don’t know. I would tend to trust my colleague’s recollection of having checked the box, and I seem to remember such boxes existing from the beginning. But it is probably not a priority right now since this information will not appear in the book.

I did check and there are in total around 2 thousands of records which do not have dating information present - it is rather a lot. I will try to see if we still have some backups from before migration to Oxford and check if data is there.

michaelzellmann commented 6 years ago

Many of these may in fact not have been filled it, I think the concern was about a few particular cases when Richard specifically remembered filling it in, then not finding it retrieved.

Thanks for quick reply! I understand the concern, unfortunately the backup I have is from May 23rd 2017, so it didn't include the particular record he mentioned. Some other records with this field empty in current version has it also empty in the backup. If Richard remembers any earlier one, I could check again. I will also ask our sysadmin tomorrow if we may still have some backups from July last year somewhere.
