I asked Jennifer for her opinion on something that came in on the NGC4lib, Below was her response. Adding it here to capture it.
RDA contains a "date of work" property: http://metadataregistry.org/schemaprop/show/id/18.html which we could add to the schema at any time - also a "date of expression". There is no equivalent in the MARC bib record, so no legacy data that we can map into it from bib records. A new subfield (046 $k - also $l) was been added to the MARC authority format recently (2010) for these dates, so assuming that they start to be recorded, we could try to capture this information as part of our authority service. Not sure it would be worth it yet, though, because hardly any authority records will have those dates recorded. And of course very few works/expressions even have authority records.
There IS a lot of interest in this from various communities (esp. moving image people), though, so we could make a statement about the importance of these dates and the feasibility of using them by providing a way for them to actually be used. A proof-of-concept - if it isn't too much extra programming for Ben.

Suggest we defer this. We would need an enhancement to the Authority Service to map this data to XC work records. So far most authority records don't have this data anyway.
