This probably breaks all translations in some pretty important parts of the program: backups.
I suspect the translation strings in the .ts files must get updated or somehow linked to the new tr() strings in source via lupdate. Does lupdate do that? No idea. And not sure whether to run it, but here's a PR for it anyways.
