The stepping robot blocks handling of other robot services (like enabling sensors) by holding the simulation paused.

Temporary work around:

Start example_cam.py
Open second terminal and call rosrun rqt_gui rqt_gui
Look for /<env_name>/<object_name>/robot/time_step and call service with expression set to the world timestep. (e.g. 80)
