Hi @emma725, what version of Qlik Sense? Typically 403 errors are attributable to a couple of possibilities:

  1. certificate issues. I don't think this is an issue because the qrs connection worked fine.
  2. The id used to make connections to the engine and qrs doesn't exist. We are using sa_api now which came into being with 3.1. Don't think this is the issue either.
  3. The Governed Metrics Application is not reachable by the service account. Frankly, this would surprise me. Is the Governed Metrics Application published?

goldbergjeffrey commented 7 years ago

so GMS and QMC Utilities are separate software. Glad to hear appMetaFetcher is working, but something isn't correct in the way GMS is configured. That you have installed it on 2 servers and 1 laptop, let's focus on getting one environment working. GMS needs to be installed on a server running Qlik Sense Enterprise. Is this what you have done?

emma725 commented 7 years ago

Well, not really, the Reload Metrics Library App and the Update Metrics in Apps are working,

When I read the metrics from Executive Dashboard using the Toggle Master Library Search, i see that the measures and dimensions from the excel file are there, BUT i cannot see them in the App, the KPI Dashboard shows Incomplete visualization and when i edit the sheet i cannot see the measures and dimensions in the Master items right pane ... what could be the problem?

thanks

goldbergjeffrey commented 7 years ago

so that's different than the 403 error you originally opened your issue with. Is the 403 error gone? Regarding the new problem you are describing, the problem there is that the engineobjectids for the master library items in the visualizations do not match what is in the excel file, so what's happened is new master items have been created with ids that don't match. Resolution is to just update the viz or if you can identify the ids on the viz you can update the excel. Please read the user guide regarding metrics data source column configuration here: http://eapowertools.github.io/GovernedMetricsService/user-guide/app/#field-definitions-and-structure

emma725 commented 7 years ago

The 403 error was gone when i upgraded to Qlik sense server 3.2.

I am using the example GMS.xls and the executive dashboard.

After the reload and update the visualizations are incomplete and i dont see the master items in the right pane when i edit the sheet.

Sorry, but i dont understand the http://eapowertools.github.io/GovernedMetricsService/user-guide/app/#field-definitions-and-structure For the example provided, what should i do?

I tried updating the UID from the excel with the UID provided by the TestPage -> Toggle Master search -> Have master library items ...? But i still dont see the master items nor the visualizations.

So what to do?

And my next question, how to create a Excel file Library out of an existing App?

I will use the TestPage -> Toggle Master search -> Have master library items ...? From there I get the UID and then I can export them and then put them in the Excel file Library, using the UID i got from the export. Then I can create an empty App and assign the proper custom properties and I should see the master items in the right pane, right?

I tried this and i didnt work [☹]

thanks for any tips [😊]

kind regards, Emma

Dear Jeff,

So this is my current status:

I have 2 apps using metrics from GMS.xls. The metrics exist in the Apps and when I edit the excel file, the GMS will push back the changes to the Apps! Great!

But, when I add a new entry in the GMS.xls, the new metric will not show up in the Apps. What am i forgetting?

@emma725 sorry for the delayed response. If the excel file is saved and the application is reloading, do you see the new metric in the Governed Metrics App? If you do then does it have a metricsubject properly applied? And if that is the case does an app have a corresponding metricsubject custom property set and if that tell me what the name of this metric is and upload the gms log file for me and I'll take a look.
