Currently there is a clear way to specify the contact for a Dataset. In my experience at BCO-DMO, a number of projects have multiple Principal Investigators where a single PI is listed as the point of contact. Sometimes, the dataset was collected by a PhD student in the lab of the PI with a funded project and the student should be the point of contact.
