We are currently at Grafana 5.3. I'd recommend upgrading to Grafana 6.0 for the v1.0 CHORDS release, so that we start out with the current version. Grafana 6.0 adds some significant improvements; especially an improved UI editor, and the react.js plugin for plugin development. The upgrade notes are very slim, and there are no breaking/problematic changes.
I'll make a branch from dev, and take a look at this. It should be pretty quick to implement.
