1) Low light makes people way less detected than they should be; somehow, make this better. It's probably an issue where edge detection breaks down.
2) sudden change in lighting creates spikes in activity; this isn't accurate. Discard inter-frame differences that have a more than N% average luminance change.
this works nicely, although there are some remaining TODOs in the code that will make it more configurable. it does not seem like the configuration would be useful though.
