Okay, so this got pretty awkward for me:
What appears to be the main reason the AAB showed up, was that I simply didn't know that I had had "AdGuard for Windows" running in the app drawer for several days already by then, and with DNS blocking turned on within AdGuard for Windows at that.
Liste FR does not target paywalls or anti-adblock.
I've seen EasyList be okay with AAB if whitelisting alone is sufficient to prevent them (e.g. @@||example.org^$generichide
), if that helps give it a bit of context.

I initially also spotted large placeholders during testing, but they turned out to be solely caused by faulty entries for that site in Bypass Paywall Clean Filter.
