[ ] Is this Submissions or FAIRification?
[x] Set a meeting with Submissions team to discuss
[ ] port code to bio samples repo and from XML to JSON. Alternatively -
[ ] can we use the HCA template generation code? Alex and Dipayan did something similar for MorPhiC
[ ] add api call
[ ] change in webin portal to use the BioSamples api - should be done by Submissions team

@ESapenaVentura has used the HCA tools to generate an Excel spreadsheet from a schema. https://github.com/morphic-bio/metadata-schema/tree/main/Metadata%20spreadsheet/builder

This would be a good starting point.

Had a great discussion with Alex and Dipayan who think this may be submissions work, but we need to communicate with Gabby and see priorities. What is our timeline for when this needs to be done?

Had a conversation regarding the other parts of ENA that consume XML instead of JSON schema, such as part of the excel-spreadsheet-generator that reads XML schema and displays the individual elements on the ENA UI, for a user to select which elements they want in the spreadsheet template. Do we need to convert those parts to consume JSON schema too?
