Hello,

Could the following please be added to ChEBI?

name: 6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalenes def: A class of fluorescent compounds used to tag nucleosides. (see image) is_a: aminonaphthalenes (CHEBI:38034) source: doi:10.1016/j.bmc.2006.12.023
doi:10.1039/b707719j synonyms: DAN

example

name: 1-(6-(dimethylamino)naphthalen-2-yl)propan-1-one InChI: InChI=1/C15H17NO/c1-4-15(17)13-6-5-12-10-14(16(2)3)8-7-11(12)9-13/h5-10H,4H2,1-3H3/ synonyms: PRODAN is_a: 6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalene source: doi: 10.1021/cr0783840

Could we also have a 6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalene group?

name: 6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalene group def: A group derived from a 6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalene by removal of the R group at the acyl carbon atom. is_a: acyl groups (CHEBI:22221) synonym: DAN group

name: dansyl chloride InchI: InChI=1/C12H12ClNO2S/c1-14(2)11-7-3-6-10-9(11)5-4-8-12(10)17(13,15)16/h3-8H,1-2H3/ def: A compound which reacts with amino acid groups to produce a fluorescent product which often used in FRET experiments. is_a: aminonaphthalenes (CHEBI:38034) synonyms:5-(dimethylamino)naphthalene-1-sulfonyl chloride source: doi: 10.1021/cr0783840

And a dansyl group?

name: dansyl group def: A group derived from dansyl chloride by removal of the Cl atom from the sulfonyl chloride group. (see image) is_a: sulfonyl groups (CHEBI:51100) source: doi:10.1021/ja000949l

Thanks Hilary

I have created

2-acyl-6-dimethylaminonaphthalene (CHEBI:51910) is a aminonaphthalenes (CHEBI:38034) 2-propionyl-6-dimethylaminonaphthalene (CHEBI:51909) is a 2-acyl-6-dimethylaminonaphthalene (CHEBI:51910) dansyl chloride (CHEBI:51907) is a aminonaphthalenes (CHEBI:38034) dansyl group (CHEBI:51908) is substituent group from dansyl chloride (CHEBI:51907)

As for "6-dimethylamino-2-acylnaphthalene group". It is not a class of groups but a definite group, 6-dimethylamino-2-naphthoyl group, thus the "acyl" part of its name looks veird to me. It is more logical to view it as a group derived from 6-dimethylamino-2-naphthoic acid. Thus:

6-dimethylamino-2-naphthoyl group (CHEBI:51911) is substituent group from 6-dimethylamino-2-naphthoic acid (CHEBI:51912) 6-dimethylamino-2-naphthoyl group (CHEBI:51911) is a univalent carboacyl group (CHEBI:27207)
