No one ever has to double click the tracks to do anything, but if you do, or click twice too fast, the component has a bunch of errors and wipes out the whole display.
Also, on that example page, you can see that the table of structures in the structure viewer includes an entry that the viewer can't show - PDB ID 1I15. I looked into it at one point, it seems to be an old type of predicted structure that isn't fully supported anymore, probably for good reasons.
