OS X - Clicking and Dragging Disk Images in Window Causes CPU Spike #6

Open LameLefty opened 9 years ago

LameLefty commented 9 years ago

When clicking and dragging a disk image from one drive slot to another, CPU usage spikes up from ~0% (idle) to nearly 100% and remains spiked until mouse button is released. As this occurs, mouse movement is sluggish and affects cursor precision during drag/drop. This doe not appear to affect basic functionality but does affect ease of use.

This issue does not occur on linux. There is an increase in CPU usage while moving the dragged disk image around, but not anywhere close to the extent of the problem described on OSX. This issue may be limited to OSX. Windows needs to be checked.

FYI, with AspeQt on Windows 7, CPU usage increases by about 15-20% on a machine with Athlon II X2 2.40 Ghz dual-core CPU. With AspeQt on Win XP, increase is about 60%, but the movement is smooth on a machine with Pentium 4 2.40 Ghz

On El Capitan, I can't replicate this effect. CPU usage goes up, but no core is stressed.
