Dalteparin sodium 18,000units/0.72ml solution was NP8 in September, with some pharmacies overcharging. The fix would have been to prescribe by brand, but now it's in the DT, the savings should come automatically. Question: would there be any disadvantages to having switched to branded and then being stuck with it?
Rizatriptan 10mg tablets: these are Category M, but there is some brand prescribing for tabs. There is also Tab / Oral Lyophilisate Tab switch possible; the latter is not in the tariff at all and is therefore always expensive.
Venlafaxine 150mg modified-release capsules: Category C, and a possible Tab / Cap switch. Both Tab and Cap are in category C, with capsules nearly twice the price; and the cheapest tab brand is about a third of the DT price. Interestingly there are also two manufactured generics for the capsules.
Oxybutynin 2.5mg/5ml oral solution is a special. It looks like it should be prescribed by brand -- is that right? (I don't understand how it would work with specials et).
