Video conversion feature is important and I think we should include it. If the feature is not included now, in future if the fedora guys allow using of other packages or a new package is introduced that allows video conversions form the propriety formats. Then the project would not be having any scope to incorporate the change.

What I suggest we should use the GS streamer already available in the fedora. Though its not able to convert proprietary formats but can be used to convert from the opensource formats. It would not offer perfect functionality ( as earlier required) but , in longer term keeping the video conversion part would actually be quite beneficial.

An API REST for publish and convert the videos (This is the major issue. we need a free converter for convert any format video in OGV,),ffmpeg is the best candidate, but we can't use it because not is in official Fedora repos, just is in rpmfusion... and Fedora infra only deploy applications via packages into epel6 UPDATE: fedora infra not can deploy any package with patents issues or not FOSS related, or with propietary codecs. so, tools like ffmpeg and gstreamer not are welcomed into Fedora infra. So, it is better let to the user the task of convert the video, (i was discuss that with infra guys too) and just let upload ogv videos to the system.

A backend for manage the uploads, comments, and access level of the contributors.

A frontend, We are thinking in something like railscasts.com. but with a profile section where you can ask questions to the experienced contributors about thing on published videos.
