Usernames containing spaces are allowed, but give errors

I created an account using the E-Mail mail@lucaswerkmeister.de and the username “Lucas Werkmeister”. When I try to access my profile, I get a 502 Proxy Error.

Possible solutions: Either allow spaces in names (but what if I enter a name containing non-ASCII characters, or newlines, backspaces, nulls, EOFs, etc?), or tell the user that only certain characters are allowed, and then check that the username only contains these characters.

@FroMage was so kind to manually rename my account, so it can no longer serve as an example. Visiting the link in the description still gives you the same error, though.

ummm... what about periods in names? do I have a unique username now? :D

(the server can handle them, no problem there.) EDIT: cancel that, the module page doesn’t work :-( (it says "Oops, an error occured – This exception has been logged with id 6gd55gj08.")
