Per suggestion by @gavinking here, we should probably attempt to implement the formatter in Ceylon.

Quick update, after some struggle (mostly recorded in the other thread), the prototype is now ported and the tests are green. I'm going to lunch now and then I'll migrate the repository.

Oh, I thought "implements" was one of the magic words to close an issue from a commit message; alright, I'll close it manually then.
