[Hue] Add support for TransitionTime, treat Effect like Alert, Bridge Groups #1722

“effect” – this resource is for dynamic effects and currently only supports two values, but we’ll add more in the future. {"effect":"colorloop"} puts the lights in a color looping mode until it is stopped by sending {"effect":"none"}. - Source

At present at least from what I see on Paper UI, Effect is not treated the same as Alert, and is named Color Loop despite the effect channel. I may not understand channels yet, if a new effect is released will this result in another effect name mapped to effect channel, or would this need to be changed to be treated like Alert.

Support for Groups defined via the Hue Bridge would be another improvement(we have 15+ bulbs here). The bridge groups are more effective for control than the group system openHAB provides. Other discussions around this involve lights are being updated one at a time instead of all lights belonging to a group being updated in parallel.

Transition time is also not supported yet? I see it was added for LIFX, but cannot see it defined in the Hue binding.

Is someone working on this? I would like to use the transition time for some of my rules.

Any updates on this? I've got some ideas of love to play around with using dynamically changing transition times!

How would you sponsor a bounty to add Transition Time?

polarathene commented 6 years ago

BountySource could help fund it, but I guess the dev would need hardware access too.

I guess the dev would need hardware access too.

I'd assume that there are many developers that own a Hue system already, so there is a good chance that it spawns some interest.
