[Homematic] CCU2 firewall #5793

From @MarcusWolschon on January 27, 2018 8:27

The documentation of the Homematic gateway is missing one very important detail:

In the CCU2 in Einstellungen->Systemsteuerung gibt es einen Punkt “Firewall konfigurieren”, you have to add the legacy IPv4-address of the OpenHab server, if you are not using the 192.68.0.0/24 legacy IPv4 address space in your home network (e.g. because you are using a subnet of the 10.x.x.x range due to VPNs).

This has cost me 2 days, an entire night and a complete reinstall of OpenHab. The very existence of this firewall is not mentioned in the CCU2 manual.

I agree with @MarcusWolschon that it would be helpful to add a hint here that one may check the firewall settings in case of connection issues.

We may add the following to the section Troubleshooting:

Connection issues If the binding fails to connect via XMLRpc/BinRpc, you may check network accessibility between the machine that runs the binding and your homematic gateway. In case of homematic CCU2, you may check "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Configure Firewall". Assuming you're using another network than 192.168.0.0/16 the access may be restricted by the firewall.
