@aclement, I think this is ready to be merged. AspectJ tests are all green. I already deployed a 1.9.8.RC1 version of this artifact to Maven Central in order to be able to also create the AspectJ 1.9.8.RC1 depending on this one here.
If your review yields an approval and subsequent merge and you also like the AspectJ Java 17 PR, we can also create final releases for both.
