Description

Searching for MDT on git.eclipse.org invokes the query http://git.eclipse.org/c/?q=mdt but fails to list http://git.eclipse.org/c/www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt.git for which my most recent commit on http://git.eclipse.org/c/www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt.git/commit/docs is shown as a zip/tar rather thn the files I actually committed.

What is going on?

Presmably mdt.git/ocl is migrating to some kind of mdt/ocl.git, but if so why can commits be performed to an obsolete git?

Correction the search does show it; I'm just blind.

So just the question why have recent commits turned into 'tar-balls'?

http://git.eclipse.org/c/www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt.git/commit/docs is shown as a zip/tar rather thn the files I actually committed.

cGit offers zips and tarballs for each commit as a convenience.

That said, your URL is referencing a commit in a subdirectory that does not contain anything specific:

"0 files changed, 0 insertions, 0 deletions"

The last commit (15291892082a71a2328a108f0620bbaa86ee386b), which is HEAD, contains changed files in mdt.git/ocl/docs, not /mdt.git/docs:

Clicking Diffstat will give you the diff of all those commits:\ http://git.eclipse.org/c/www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt.git/diff/?id=15291892082a71a2328a108f0620bbaa86ee386b

Yes. Very confusing. No idea how I got to this useless display.

Comparing histories it would appear that between 12-Nov-2012 and 30-Nov-2012 mdt/ocl.git was created with the prevailing history of mdt.git/ocl. The content in mdt/ocl.git was not deleted/archived/write-protected so I was able to continue maintaining it. I was either unaware of this change or just ignored it and so have continued to update mdt.git/ocl.

'Today': www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/ocl.git can be archived (without any public access) and deleted.

'Tomorrow': www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/ocl.git can be recreated from www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt.git/ocl.

Then: I will delete all ocl content from mdt.git to discourage ongoing use of the wrong repro.

If this bug is still relevant, please confirm?

Thanks.

I don't think it needs to clutter your OPEN Bugzilla queue.

The original report was mostly questions that were misguided or have been answered.

Don't know if any of this was done.

www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/ocl.git is used to control OCL / UML2 download visibility etc.

www.eclipse.org/modeling/mdt/ocl.git is I think unused.

Generally this is all waiting for a Nick Boldt successor who will provide uniformity once again to the modelling tools.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.

Per comment 3 I'm going to re-assign this to modeling.ocl.
