Eclipse SUMO is an open source, highly portable, microscopic and continuous traffic simulation package designed to handle large networks. It allows for intermodal simulation including pedestrians and comes with a large set of tools for scenario creation.
It would be a nice feature to load a simulation by simply drag and drop a .sumocfg file to the opened sumo-gui.
Usually I have my file explorer open at the place of my current simulation. When I have an open sumo-gui, sometimes it takes (very) many clicks to find the correct .sumocfg file to open.
Of course, I can open a command promt at the current directory and start sumo-gui there. But if I have different sumo-versions installed, I cannot allways use sumo-gui command.
