We want to get rid of the FakeNode implementation, which has multiple limitations.
A new implementation could handle some cases that aren't working in the current implementation:
Add existing elements in packages returns an error
Add existing elements puts nodes in free form layout in the wrong parent
Add existing element shouldn't render nodes as siblings if they are already rendered as list compartment items
