Also unclear why there is a trash can to deselect the tool tabs -- what gets deleted here? If it is about the cost of executing the tool, maybe introduce the possibility to minimize the tool panel (but still have a selection, which is executed on opening again). Trash can can become the minimize icon..
We have the trash icon in the tabs below since it is in the original design to clear the console. Now we do not have that problem. I think we should simply change it to a refresh icon to indicate that one can redo that process of the tab.
Also, currently changing something in the TD empties the tab below, which is a bug that can be fixed at the same time.
