Looks like maybe Thursdays are best still. Unfortunately I can't do next Monday as we tentatively said for next week. Should we stick with Thursdays 11-12:30? Opinions?
Works for me!

OK, let's stick with the same bat time, same bat channel: Thursdays 11:00-12:(30ish?). Do we need to set up a new schedule for the Pine Room (or some other meeting room)?
I'll make a starter file for Chapter 5 this weekend but don't let that stop you from getting a head start! We can also try to invite some of the new PhDs.
Thursday's still work for me.

Great! @oharac I emailed Sophia about getting the pine room through the quarter. Looks like that spot is open, so we should be fine.
Hello eco-detectives,
Now I'm back in town, could I jump into the sessions? Do you think I'll be able to catch up if I just start from the chapter you are working on right now?
Cheers,

welcome back Ignacia! Yes you should be able to jump in - maybe skim the chapters 1-4 but we can refresh our memories if/when those models come up in later chapters
Hey all, I put up the template for Chapter 5 text and problems a couple of days ago. This Thursday I have a phone conference that goes til 11:30, if other folks want to get together at 11 and go on without me I won't be sad, I'll catch up when I get there... I think we can chat through chapter 5 this week and then plan on working the problems for the following week.
@jacobgellman did you talk to Ashley about using this as independent study for natural science credit? it would be cool if people could get credit for this aside from just the warm glow of knowledge and community...
Dear Casey and all,
I am back too, thank you for encouraging us to join you back Casey! I will try to do my best, although I will continue to be remote (from NCEAS).
Best wishes and have a great week! Mireia

As we start up Fall quarter, some of the people remote over the summer may be coming back into town, and other people may be taking courses or TAing. So we'd like to encourage everyone to join/rejoin us on this project - it's actually been really helpful for me (some new R tricks, some cool ecology concepts and math) and I think for all of us who've been able to participate so far.
We're part way through the book but that shouldn't be a problem if you're interested in joining. Next week (Thursday 10/3 at 11 in the Pine Room) we'll go over the end-of-chapter problems in Chapter 4. The following week (time/place TBD) we'll start in on Chapter 5. If you want to join but are behind, just read the chapters 1-4 and skip the coding part. You can look at our coded problems in the repo if you're curious. Then in two weeks, join us ready to work on Chapter 5! (or join next week as we talk through chapter 4 problems and coding).
Over the summer we've been doing an hour or so every Thursday at 11, but in case that time isn't best for folks, we can consider new times. Here's a Doodle poll to enter your preferred times (set up with times that I can make...) for a generic week: http://whenisgood.net/primer2 (results code c7474nn to see what people have put in already).
