How to deal with non-linear quantitative KPI score interpretation (e.g. 1-100 years payback period to a 10 to 1 score, the 5 reflecting 5 years)?

Maybe that can point us in a more concrete direction?

I guess the KPI can have a property for what kind of scale it uses.
