The image I'm using (edbizarro/gitlab-ci-pipeline-php:7.4-alpine) was last built in February 2021, so it is still using composer 2.0.9. This version does not support the new github oauth token format.
And on a second note, this repo seems to be rather inactive. Is there any fork that is being seriously maintained?
