deconstructing enrollment management decoding enrollment management supercooldatascienceproject enRollment project
I like enRollment project, @btskinner @ksalazar3, thoughts?
Yes, let's get started!
I like Ozan's suggestions above too. But should we try to incorporate data science in the name somehow, or would that make it too long (e.g., data science for decoding EM, inside the EM algorithm black box)?
I'm fine with just enrollment project too!
I'm not in love with any. enRollment project is corny. supercooldatascienceproject is best so far imo. let's play around with it a little more. we can probably get enrollment mgt or data science/analytics in the title but maybe not both unless we go with an acronym.
once we have a decent start (month or two), I can prolly get us a little feature story in InsideHigherEd. I know scott Jaschik pretty well.
the unrollment project
I like unrollment project (repo as unrollment_proj
).
unrollment project would be good for my/karina's brand. love that repo name ben!
what do we do to make sure we aren't creating thewhitemalepRoject ?
Here's my proposal: I've just invited you all the eddatasci organization as full owners. I started it for one thing about a year ago and abandoned it.
We can transfer this repo there and rename to unrollment_proj
. Everything should still work the same, but here are the benefits:
I should add that having an organization will make it easier to have a website when the time comes to build one. Particularly a website that hosts future projects.
Works for me. WD

We can transfer this repo there and rename to unrollment_proj. Everything should still work the same, but here are the benefits:
- We'll have an organization name that includes data science
- We can each have the ability to add features like testing integration with Travis CI (I think right now there are still some things that only @wdoyle42 https://github.com/wdoyle42 can do)
- We can easily (later on) start other projects/repos under the eddatasci group
- As we add new collaborators in the future, we can have finer grain control over repo permissions than we can have now (is that right @wdoyle42 https://github.com/wdoyle42, one is either a collaborator here, full stop, or nothing?)

Cool. Once you accept to join the org, @wdoyle42, the process to transfer is just this. Once you do that, I can change the name and do the rest of the set up.
Looks like everyone has joined the eddatasci group. @wdoyle42, can you transfer this repo to it? I think you are the only one who can since you own it.
Done!

Thanks! I think we have officially started! I'm closing this issue.
I've provided a bit more writing and analysis, suggesting that ELS could do what we need, and providing a bit of rationale. Obviously a long way to go, but that's kind of the point. If we're in agreement on moving forward, I will:
