We are using that with linl now after we actually had an issue there in testing (something trivial about color defined twice) which ... we already had fixed in an earlier PR.
Docker is good here as it also gives people a trusted hook to run the package / use the formating on their box nomatter what texlive setting they have (provided they can run Docker, of course). And I quite like the idea of more portable / open Travis setups not unique to their somewhat baroque use of Ubuntu distros and weird Ruby magic I have no insight in.
