Check for updates not working (rev. 44) #170

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

Launch MacVim rev. 44, click on MacVim, then on Check for updates...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The expected output would be to ask me if I want to update to rev. 45, and
instead I see You're
up to date!

What version of MacVim and OS X are you using (see "MacVim->About MacVim" and
"Apple
Menu->About This Mac" menu items, e.g. "Snapshot 40, 10.5.6 Intel")?

Snapshot 44, 10.5.6 Intel

Please provide any additional information below.

Feel free to contact me for further tests/questions.

This is working as intended. Snapshots are put on the appcast only a few days
after they have been released, to
make sure that completely broken snapshots are not pushed out to everyone. If
there's a problem with a
snapshot, it isn't put on the appcast at all. You can look at
feed://bjorn.winckler.googlepages.com/macvim_latest.xml – snapshot 44 is not
on there at all, for example
(because of the toolbar bug, I guess).

OK, I understand, I was not aware of that. I'll look for another way of being
notified of a new release :)

Thanks!

nico is right: snap 45 will appear on the appcast in a few days.

Oh, and if you want to be notified of new snapshots then you can always
subscribe to the vim_mac google
group: I always announce new snapshots when they are released on that list.

Thanks Bjorn, I actually added the rss feed from the downloads page to my rss
reader, that way I'll know :)
