It uses the InputManager functionality which, I believe, is severely limited or
entirely disabled (depending on the
situation) in Snow Leopard. From what I can find, InputManagers are limited to
only loading under very strict
conditions in 32-bit apps, and will not load at all in 64-bit apps - which, if
you have a Core2Duo, will be
running in Snow Leopard for almost all bundled apps and an increasing number of
3rd-party apps.
Basically, it's not going to work in it's current form in Snow Leopard, ever.
There might be some way to rewrite it
using a different method, but that would take time - if it's even possible.

This topic has been covered on vim_mac. For example (also look for QuickCursor
for a potential replacement
to the "Edit in ..." functionality):

Here's an excerpt:
You have to run Safari in 32-bit mode for Input Managers to work (and
"Edit in ..." is an input manager). To do this:
Open a Finder window on /Applications, and show Info window for Safari
(select Safari and hit Cmd-i). Make sure the box that says "Open in
32-bit mode" is selected. Close window and restart Safari. Now "Edit
in ..." will work (I'm using it as I type).
