Speed measurements (DOMContentLoaded / Load):

Loaded, cached: 1.58 / 5.10 Loaded, uncached: 2.17 / 5.73 Unloaded, uncached: 1.84 / 2.85

So I think I need a plan for setting up something server-side: are we moving everything to a framework? Or just adding a separate API with hooks?

I think I'd prefer the latter, but it does complicate things. I'm also worried about performance.
